Wright Park in Tacoma and the Seymour Conservatory

Hilltop Artists in Residence return to the Seymour Conservatory.

Starting April 10th 2010 and running through May 31,2101 this exhibit will showcase the works of the Hilltop Residence artists. There will be a reception on April 10th. from 1pm to 2:30pm Suggested donations are $4.00

Wright Park is located near Stadium High School in Tacoma Washington. Wright Park was established in the late part of the 19th Century with a land donation by Charles B. Wright for the sole purpose of being developed as a public park.

Since its original design by E.O. Schwagerl and Ebenezer Rhys Roberts, the park has maintained its original character. Its original vision was one of a bucolic, scenic, pastoral, passive park as embodied by traditional English parks.

The conservatory was built in 1907. The Victorian styled conservatory has two wings and central twelve sided dome that has 3,500 glass panes. The conservatory now has over 550 plant species housed in its permanent collections. There are over 200 Orchids, Palms, and Rhododendrons (the state flower of Washington State)

Living in the north end of Tacoma one might find it easy to forget about the beauty that is located just minutes away in Wright Park. The goal of our Wright Park project is to take a photo a day of the conservatory. By capturing the beauty of the park and the conservatory on a daily basis we hope that many of you will remember to enjoy Wright Park and the Stadium District of Tacoma.
